Some of Our Accomplishments

For a major Canadian oil and gas company, through an intermediary, Grey Fox provided leadership coaching, performance improvement, strategic planning, work planning and human resource practices consulting services. Objectives for this initiative included

  • working with company leadership personnel to establish strategic and tactical plans;
  • implementation and ongoing support of a results-based work planning process;
  • coaching leaders toward the establishment of a high performance, high quality workplace;
  • facilitating and coaching effective work planning meetings; and
  • implementation of performance-based scorecarding processes.

Project deliverables included work plan templates, performance scorecards, position profiles and responsibility matrices, effective meeting templates and accountability contracts.

For a major supplier of compression and industrial refrigeration equipment and services, Grey Fox engaged the company’s leadership team in a focused, structured strategic planning process which resulted in new direction and significant change. Using a time-proven strategic planning process, several key strategies were developed. Grey Fox consultants guided and assisted with the implementation of these strategies through structured action plans and leadership team coaching. Additionally, Grey Fox provides individual performance coaching of key Startec personnel; assisting with work planning, delegation, performance improvement and relationship building.

For a provider of high-value data and software solutions to the oil and gas exploration industry, Grey Fox conducted an organization-wide web-based survey to assess current work culture conditions; the results provide a clear picture, identifying specific areas for improvement.

For a major division of a national charitable organization,

  • prepared a comprehensive strategic plan for Information Technology, providing the essential facts for the Board to make informed decisions on the IT direction, and a clear context for tactical decisions;
  • undertook a high-level organizational audit focused on administrative functions to outline the strengths of these groups from their customers’ point of view, the perceived current gaps and limitations, and the opportunities for future improvements;
  • developed and provided support for implementing a Strategic Management System that allows the organization to:
    • Clarify and translate vision and strategy;
    • Communicate and link strategic objectives and measures;
    • Plan, set targets and align strategic initiatives;
    • Enhance strategic feedback and learning.
  • assisted with initiatives at the national level to re-examine and re-state performance goals and objectives with a view to aligning performance measures across the country;
  • provided executive coaching support to the executive director, on a regular basis, towards
    • becoming a more nimble strategic leader
    • articulating alignment of performance measures to frontline staff in a way that is meaningful and impactful for employees,
    • maintaining and refining the balanced scorecard for greater functionality over time.

For a mid-sized manufacturing company, Grey Fox assisted in evaluation and selection of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to enable company-wide business process improvement. Grey Fox then provided follow-on coaching for implementation, continuing on to general business and IT management issues.

For a major national retail company,

  • guided the cost-effective rollout of point-of-sale software and hardware to 250 stores coast-to-coast – customers and store operators appreciate improved service at the till, and the company has achieved cost savings through efficient deployment of new technology;
  • addressed challenges of ensuring systems reliability and availability, working with IT leaders and staff members, providing objective senior guidance and direction and developing appropriate levels of IT process discipline, while preserving and enhancing agility, leveraging the capacity of the staff;
  • worked with IT infrastructure team leads, to improve their work management processes, taking a business and management approach to assessing work priorities;
  • provided cost-effective part-time project management guidance for a time-critical project;
  • took over project management for a high-profile external gift card distribution project under tight timelines; the project was brought in on time, enabling the sale of $1 million worth of gift cards in the critical October to December sales period;
  • assisted the Corporate Project Management Office in defining and developing costing processes for the project lifecycle.

For a Fortune 500 oil and gas industry leader, reset the direction for a very large in-house, Internet-based development project serving the needs of over 4,000 online customers and suppliers. Grey Fox made twenty seven recommendations to revitalize project management and to reduce the risk exposure of millions in dollars in development costs.

For a major public health organization,

  • reviewed current IT project processes, recommended improvements, and assisted in developing a project dashboard;
  • conducted a staffing assessment for operations and support work groups. Analysis included the organization, the productivity of the staff and relevant work processes;
